Convert WMA to MP3 – How to convert WMA to MP3
Common people listen to music on their portable players which is the current fad nowadays. We download music from the web or rip music from CDs. Some applications automatically turn the format into WMA which could be the default setting in ripping music from CDs. The problem that arises is that some portable players do not support the WMA format. This turns the music transferred in the player cannot be a played and a huge part of the memory of the player is being consumed, which is a waste. Some even do not accept the transfer.
Nevertheless, there is a way to fix these audio files and even successfully transfer the audio to portable players and that is to use an audio converter.
Setting up the Configuration of CDex for converting:
• Make sure the program is running.
• Above on the main window of the program, there is File, Edit, Convert, Tools, CDDB, Options and Help. Before converting, open up the CDex Configuration window by pressing F4 key or go to Options menu then choose Settings.
• There are 6 different tabs on the CDex Configuration window. Click on the Filename tab, located between the Generic tab and the CD Drive tab. Leave the Filename Format be and proceed to Recorded Tracks and then set the directory where you want to save the converted tracks. To set the directory, click the ellipses button located at the right end and choose a directory.
• Next go to the Encoder tab which is right next to the CD Drive tab. Leave the Thread Priority and proceed to Encoder; settings for it is LAME MP3 Encoder. Under the Encoder options, set the Bitrate Min to 128. Bitrate Min 320 consumes a lot of memory.
• Click OK.
The program is now ready to convert the audio files. There are a lot of options to choose from in this program for example there are many converting options at the right corner of the main window. The first three options are for ripping music from CDs with the option to choose a format, while the next 2 options are for converting audio files from WAV to MP3 and vice versa.
To convert WMA to MP3:
• Above on the main window, click the Convert menu and choose Re-encode Compressed Audio File(s). There is an ellipse button located at the right end; click it and browse to the directory in which you placed your WMA format audio files then choose OK.
• Select the audio files you want to convert then click Convert.
• The re-encoded files are saved to the directory you set up during CDex Configuration.
You can now copy the converted files to your portable mp3 player. But recent mp3 players nowadays support the WMA format.
